Works from the studio.

Each work is wound entirely by hand around nails set into the frame of a panel. A single-colour work is one unbroken thread from the first nail to the last; every additional colour adds a thread. Size, shape, palette and frame finish are determined at commission.

The Artist

Meet the artist behind the thread.

Jad Okaily works from a studio in Beirut. The thread travels around nails set into the frame of a panel, never inside it, and the pattern emerges where the straight lines cross one another.

No machine is involved at any stage. Every work is wound by hand, nail by nail, and the studio produces a small number of works each week.
